A New Tri-Realm™ MMORPG from Mark Jacobs and City State Entertainment

Gamers will be able to support a focused re-imagining of the Arthurian legends through Kickstarter

Feb. 5, 2013 – City State Entertainment revealed today that it will launch a Kickstarter campaign in March, 2013 to help fund the creation of Camelot Unchained (working title), a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The project is the latest from CSE co-founder Mark Jacobs. An online industry pioneer and founder of Mythic Entertainment, he came up with the concept for and led the team that created one of the genre’s very first international successes, the landmark Dark Age of Camelot®, which launched in 2001, achieved immediate popularity and critical acclaim, won dozens of awards, and is still in operation.

The core concept for the new MMORPG focuses tightly on three key elements, RvR, housing and a true player-owned economy. The central conflict encompasses a trio of diverse, competing realms – Arthurian, Tuatha Dé Danann and Viking – each seeking to assert its dominance over an open and persistent world reflecting the universally familiar but greatly re-imagined Camelot and European mythos. All aspects of this RvR-focused MMORPG are tied into and support the three realms’ ongoing battle for superiority and control. The player housing and crafting systems will also be very significant components and both key closely into the RvR theme.

“We believe there’s a small yet viable audience of fans who are very keen to play this type of MMORPG,” stated Mark Jacobs. “However, tightly focused niche games don’t necessarily hold great appeal for traditional publishers who are looking toward the mass market. We see Kickstarter as the best way to reach out directly to the people who will actually play our game for help in funding its creation.”

“Furthermore,” Jacobs added, “we feel Kickstarter is great market research. When we meet our funding goal, the other investors and I will be even more confident about committing the additional money needed to complete development and to launch and operate the game. A successful campaign will provide solid evidence that a truly enthusiastic and committed target audience will be eagerly awaiting its release.”

Over the coming weeks, CSE will focus on building brand awareness for the game prior to the launch of its Kickstarter campaign. Mark and the team will provide developer blogs and release further information on the company’s project page (www.camelotunchained.com) and through leading industry publications.

il problema è che se fanno un daoc2 con le dinamiche di exp del vecchio e un ci posso giocare...o fo il cinquanta quando mia figlia va in università o peggio ancora, DIVORZIO!

MJ: No, not really. While legally I would be able to make a spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot, I would rather focus on making this game great rather than on it as a sequel. I want this one to stand on its own, even if it does draw on some of the same literature and traditions.

I'd like it to be very clear that we are not making a sequel. I won't try to tell DAoC players that our new project will meet all their desires in this regard. I have always valued their trust, so while I want the people who played my past games to look at this one and get excited, I won't go around shouting that it's the "spiritual successor to the greatest RvR MMO evar!" I'd rather simply say that we are working on a great concept for a new RvR-focused MMO that draws on some familiar European myths and legends, then go from there.

- What will we see new in this game that wasn't in DAoC and WAR? -

MJ: A lot. The biggest difference is that RvR isn't the endgame -- it's the only game. Every system, skill, ability, gameplay element, etc., is geared toward RvR. There's almost no PvE (just a training area, some special events, etc.), and everything we add will always be tied into RvR.

This game, unlike almost every other MMO that has PvP/RvR, isn't trying to serve two masters. We only want to do one thing right by creating the best RvR experience in any MMO to date. While this will be quite difficult, as there have been some great games that have some great RvR embodied in them, we think we can do it.

il problema è che non voglio cozzarmi coi miei 5L contro i gruppi 12L u_u

L'impronta RvR di questo nuovo Camelot Unchained comunque ispira assai, ma proprio assai

con la mentalità della playerbase odierna sarà comunque condannato a essere un fail col solito zerg di cinnimerda che troverà il modo di farsi i giri degli obiettivi non difesi perchè peeeeeeehhhhhh gli incentivihhhh!! le reuoooooords!!!! sono l'unica cosa che conta per sta generazione di "pvper" lobotomizzati che trasformano tutto in un cazzo di grind.

senza contare che ormai o fanno un combat semi action o non lo cago di striscio, le stats per evade block e parry e pigiare due bottoni anche no per me nel 2013.

La penso uguale, tra l'altro le modalità zergose (e non penso proprio sarà un pvp di tipo structured) su chi ce l'ha + lungo mi fannno abbastanza merda.

PS I paid su GW2 startano abbestia ora, hanno levato la modalità torneo e messo il team vs team con matchmaking con mappa a rotazione settimanale (per fare vari test)

Non lo so, mi sembra rischioso e difficilissimo da realizzare..

eh è un po' che non loggo, ogni sera sprecare almeno mezz'ora per mettere assieme un party che abbia qualche possibilità e che magari alla prima sconfitta disbanda mi scoccia quando ho così poco tempo per giocare.

magari uno di sti giorni fo un salto e vedo se qualche team ha un posto fisso che magari qualcuno dei loro ha mollato QQ

OT: ormai la community pvp si è traferita su desolation, li si creano ottimi pug che so sempre un pain in the ass da affrontare (di solito tutta gente rank40+ con qp all'attivo e che usa ts). Cmq sia ora è raro che s'incontrano i super guild party + famosi essendoci un hidden match making sotto (non si sa qualche criteri adotti ma è praticamente certo che lo stiano testando), tra l'altro l'aver messo ad 1 solo ticket il costo del paid fa si che molta + gente li fa (startano + feloci dei free lol) e quindi s'incontrano si ottimi party ma cmq affrontabili piuttosto che mega gruppi fotm impossibile da segare.
