Hi folks,
When you log on to the test server, you’ll notice our new upgraded version of Limbo called “Survival Challenge Limbo – Midtown Manhattan”
Limbo “Midtown Manhattan Patrol” will be the first of the new and improved Limbo maps, completely upgrading and replacing the current Limbo in every way. Other versions of Limbo may be added to the game in the future as we improve the design and the technology.
Here are the goals for the Limbo Survival Challenge revamp:
1. Awesome experience and loot. Midtown Limbo has greater rewards than Limbo if you are an active, aggressive player and much fewer rewards if you just sit in one place doing nothing. (No surprise here, as it should be).
2. More variety of fun. The level design team has gone all out with encounters, ambushes, civilian rescues and lots of superheroic fights in the zone. It has more action than any other zone in the game and truly tests how much of a hero you are.
3. More boss fights. Instead of waiting 15 minutes for a boss fight, you wait 2-3 minutes to defend the zone from a villain supergroup. (Some of these boss combinations are pretty insane).
4. Better performance. Midtown Limbo has 10 players adventuring over 10 city blocks, along with fully optimized maps and terrain.
5. No waiting. You can enter Midtown Limbo whenever you wish. No more cooldown of 30 minutes – it’s now 0 minutes. You can also enter at every level of the game and have a version of Limbo Midtown for you.
6. Play as long as you wish. You can literally stay forever and keep defending the zone from supervillian groups and saving civilians. Everything is randomly generated, so you will continue to see new things the longer you stay.
7. Get rid of "threat" level and bosses one-shotting everyone. The bosses will now be tuned exactly appropriately for the zone. They will be very difficult, but not insane.
That’s it. Basically everything we believe should be in a zone is the new version of Limbo - Midtown Patrol. (Exact name in progress).
When you log into the zone, you will be able to enter the zone using terminals or just walking out of Avengers Tower right into Manhattan.
It will require a lot of tuning and iteration to make sure power level, rewards and mob density are correct, so we’ll be watching the test results closely over the next couple of weeks.
