A New Season:
A fresh start! That new server feeling. Leveling up with the guild, just like the good old times. You finally get level 50 and you’re geared out in your new RoGs, epic armor and makeshift template. You go to the Frontiers to conquer the enemy and there it is…the sweet scent of the fresh rr2. This is the feeling we want to preserve on Eden as many view it as the most enjoyable time of a server.

To that point, we will be introducing a few systems never tried before in DAoC:

TIMED REALM SKILL POINT CAPS
The first system is Realm Skill Point caps. You will still earn your realm points, no matter what, but the maximum amount of Realm Skill Points you are able to spend will be limited based on the Realm Skill Point cap release schedule. For the first month of the server, the Realm Skill Point cap will be 3L9 or 200k RPs. Every week after that, the cap will be increased by 200k. Any Realm Points earned beyond the cap will still count towards your overall realm rank, but the Realm Skill Points available to spend and the +skill will be limited to the current cap. To illustrate, below is a chart for the rough timeline of the Realm Skill Point caps. (Disclaimer: The timeline is subject to change)

The goal with this Realm Skill Point cap is to temporarily level the playing field. This initial 3L9 cap will give more time to the casual players who may not be able to play as much as the hardcore gamers at launch. Keep in mind, the RP rate is not increased on Eden and the first month of the server is generally leveling, crafting, templating, and overall getting ready for RvR. Also, the overall timeline will allow players to create alts, switch realms, or just try out new things without that feeling of falling behind in the RR category. Again, you will always earn your realm points when RvR’ing, only the spendable Realm Skill Points and +skills are capped.

This will also help us introduce another long term project which has never been tried before in DAoC - Seasons!

SEASONS
That’s right, Eden will be the first and only DAoC server to ever introduce the concept of seasonal DAoC. Whether it’s Uthgard, Phoenix, Celestius, or Atlas - we acknowledge all freeshard servers have a limited lifetime which is effectively a “season” of DAoC fun before ultimately decaying. However, all of these freeshards come with complete wipes and can vary wildly in terms of stability. Eden will offer multiple DAoC seasons all in one reliable, stable environment for your enjoyment and ease of play.

By offering a seasonal DAoC experience, it allows us to present alternative rulesets that may have different end-game objectives (Homeland Invasion/King assasination) or slightly less popular but highly requested (PvP Ruleset) rulesets, or even a chance to experience DAoC in an accelerated timeline (Progression Server with releasing expansion patches). We have been diligently building out all the systems needed to support these different types of gameplay! Here are some common questions we anticipate regarding how we will implement seasons:

How long will each season be?
To be completely transparent, it is unknown even to us until later in the season, but it is largely controlled by the community. If players continue to play for 1+ year and the population does not drop to devastatingly low levels, the season will continue as normal. We will be sure to announce at the beginning of each season what the expected timeline is and permanent rewards that will be acquired from participating.

What will reset each season?
To allow for that fresh new server feeling along with the possibility of new rulesets, the following will be reset upon a new season: Realm Skill Point cap, levels, gold, all items. In essence, your character is reset to level 1 but long term progression (non economic) carries over.

What if I don't want to lose my progress?
The following will carry over: character name, crafting skills, player herald stats (Solo kills, Mob kills, Relic takes, Keep takes, etc) and titles, unlockable reskins and effects, housing trophies, and PvE mounts. Also, by using the Realm Skill Point cap system above, this enables us to allow your characters' RPs to persist from season to season. This gives your character a real sense of progression even at the end of a season, while at the same time allows new players to not feel left behind when that new season arrives. Disclaimer, in the event of a new season having a wild ruleset such as PvP it is likely no RPs would carry over just for that one season.

Oh yea, one last thing - Alpha coming August 20, 2022!
This will be an open alpha test that everyone is invited to participate in! We will be releasing the details in the coming weeks on how to connect and rewards for participating. We also have a character planner that will accompany the alpha. Just like many of you the Eden team has been playing DAoC for 20+ years on many different servers but this is truly a new and exciting time for DAoC. We are thrilled to bring you Eden Season 1.

Ti dirò, per me ad esempio è l'esatto opposto.

Ho provato quasi tutti gli mmo da daoc in poi, eppure torno sempre a giocare a daoc perchè è ancora (dopo 20 anni) quello con le meccaniche per me più soddisfacenti.

Poi nota di merito questi shard sono in genere ben seguiti, hanno una popolazione superiore all'official e soprattutto sono gratis che male non fa..

The realms have amassed their armies and it is time to settle the score! This event pits all three realms against one another in a race to the top. The RvR focused actions of each realm will be scored and contribute to an overall score for each realm. The actions that will earn points in order from highest to lowest are:

Relic take major (Enemy Temple)
Relic take minor(Non Temple)
Enemy realm keep take (scaled per level)
Home realm keep take (scaled per level)
Enemy realm tower take (scaled per level)

Spells and Styles Recorder
In an effort to help level the playing field with Auto Hotkey and mouse/keyboard software, we are introducing an easy to use, built in Spells and Styles recorder! This new feature will only offer a subset of what is already possible with Auto Hotkey and mouse/keyboard software, however this will be a much more approachable way to bind multiple abilities to one action. This also will do away with the underlying delay between each client input, ensuring a more consistent experience.

Use /recorder command in game to see a list of commands. You can create, rename, delete, or update icons on saved Recordings.

As an example, to create a new ability that fires all Paladin chants, you would do the following:

Place the abilities you want to record somewhere on your quickbars
Type /recorder start
Click/press the abilities in order that you want them to fire (note: Delays and Loops are not allowed and are not supported with /recorder).
Type /recorder save <name>, so in this case you could do /recorder save Chants
Open your ability window. There will now be a list of abilities under "Recorder"
Drag the new "Chants" ability to your quickbar.
Click/press the "Chants" ability on your quickbar to fire off all of your chants in one press!

We understand that this topic is extremely controversial. The reality is that outside of delays and loops, it is nearly impossible to regulate a one key firing off multiple abilities, given how ubiquitous AHK and mouse/keyboard software is. This new feature will hopefully help to lessen the gap, create more fluid gameplay with less /qbinds and open up space on player's quickbars!

As with all new features, if you notice any issues, please report any bugs.

World’s First Realm Invasion
The time has come to have the world’s first Realm Invasion! The battles during our inaugural Season 2 “For The Realm” event were fierce and amazing to watch. However, as the dust settled, the pathway to one homeland laid opened – Midgard.
The gates of Midgard will be opened for invasion on March 2, 2024 7:00 PM and be opened for approximately 36 hours. The event will end if the great King Eirik of Midgard has been defeated or if Midgard is able to defend their homelands for the allotted time.
We have been hard at work fixing items with the server and doing all we can to help with client side performance where we can. There are a lot of moving parts, and something of this scale has never been done in DAoC before. Several Staff will monitor the event and adjust mechanics as it goes but we are incredibly excited to bring this content to you all for the first time. Also note we may have to change these parameters/settings before the event launch if needed.
A reminder of the rules for Realm Invasion are below:
The Old Frontiers
The two invading realms will launch their invasion campaigns at their portal keeps in the old frontiers of the defending realm!
As an invader, gather on the border keep pad and wait for the portal ceremony. For defenders, simply walk out from your border keeps into the old frontiers.
Once a keep has been taken by an invader, it can not be taken back by the defending realm.
Once all keeps have been taken, the border keeps of the defending realm will become capturable, and the relic keeps become spawn points for the invading realms.


Once a border keep has been captured, it becomes the new spawn point for the invading realm.
Invaders enter into the homeland of the defending realm through the border keeps.
Homeland towns of the defending realm become capturable - but beware, the townsfolk fight back and are equipped with their class specific spells and abilities!
Towns reward realm points and chests scattered throughout the towns when captured.
Towns level up over time, increasing rewards and defenses. Attackers and defenders will automatically /release to the nearest town their realm has captured.
There will be a timeout window after a town is captured in which it is unable to change hands

The Spoils of War Town chests have a chance to reward brand new exclusive dragon weapon reskins of the defending realm! For example, a Cuuldurach styled flex weapon, or a Golestandt
styled scythe!
Invaders can travel throughout any of the classic homeland zones and dungeons, and attack any players, townsfolk or monsters of enemy realms.
Invaders can not enter the capital city or Shrouded Isles.
Dragon and adolescent dragons also drop exclusive cross realm dragon weapon reskin patterns when defeated by invaders.
Mounts and whistles that are normally unique to realms can drop and be kept by invaders.

The King Once all towns are simultaneously captured by invaders, the king of the defending realm will leave his throne room to defend his realm. Meet him in battle outside of the gates of the capital city!
A defeated king will drop a brand new helmet reskin: The king's very own crown!
New plate, chain and scale chest piece reskins for defending your realm and king!
The Final Phase: Reclaiming the Homeland
Once a king has been successfully slain by invaders, defenders are given a final chance to reclaim their lands.
The frontiers are reopened. The portal ceremony will no longer port invaders into the defending realm's homelands.
Invaders can continue to stay in the defending realm's homelands but their time is limited: Invaders who /release will be teleported back to their own homelands!
Towns taken back by defenders after the king has been slain can not be retaken by invaders.
Once all towns and border keeps have been reclaimed by defenders, the invasion is officially over and all invaders will be purged completely from the realm.

Cmq puoi già iniziare. fai il 50, e ranki un poi e quando ci sarà il wipe, il nick, RR e craft saranno mantenuti. dovrai solo rifare il 50 (per altro fatto in 1 ora con PL a DF) e rifai il tp.

Penso che molto fosse dato dalla maturità media dei giocatori. A quel tempo ragazzini se ne incontravano veramente pochi, sopratutto su Vortigern, quindi anche l’ approccio era più “maturo”. Inoltre a parte quei pochi che venivano da L4P o UO, si era tutti alla prima esperienza di gioco, senza contare quelli che vedevano daoc come un'occasione per fare GDR online , su Hib mi pare fossero i Tuatha qualcosa.

Comunque era un altro mondo, non sapevi un cazzo e per giocare dovevi per forza informarti tramite altri player, questo creava rapporti incredibili. Il gioco è stato concepito per fare gruppo, da solo era un inferno, ed eri spinto a gruppare con altri, non c'erano guide o streamers del cazzo che ti spiegavano tutto, dovevi provarlo o chiedere. Appena si diventava un po' più esperti subentravano le dinamiche di gilda e di reame, poi il party bilanciato, poi son venuti gli stili di gioco, insomma era un cazzo di capolavoro in un momento storico dell'internet ancora perfetto, e noi lo apprezzavamo perchè era un gioco a suo modo difficile che aveva delle regole di bilanciamento da cui non potevi prescindere, era punitivo e quindi dovevi fare le cose per bene e "faticare" . I ragazzini di oggi a differenza nostra non si stupiscono più di nulla, guardano video , streamers e vogliono numeri, medaglie e premi vari, il nostro premio era aprire df e andare a farmare, far crescere la gilda e scalare le classifiche per poi inculare il reame avversario, softtere sui vari forum...

Ho dei momenti impressi nella mente che non mi ha lasciato nessun altro mmorpg, mi ricordo un venerdì sera ritorno mezzo sbronzo e mi metto a giocare alle 3 di notte, ero nabbissimo, vado alle piane e becco un tizio "sbengapelata" , mi regala dei soldi e quattro cagate ma per me era roba fighissima, personaggi mitici conosciuti quando si mischiavano i reami e feci la conoscenza di Tanek ... roba da brividi, mi ricordo tutti quei momenti

Cmq un pò di "ritorno alle origini" sta uscendo con alcuni giochi. Sinceramente non mi preoccupa "l'informazione facile" ma proprio come sono strutturati alcuni giochi odierni.
Diciamo che DAOC era quasi come i "survival" odierni senza la parte di costruzione etc. Avevi la sensazione di non sapere cosa trovavi dietro l'angolo, cosa ci fosse nell'accampamento successivo...

Da li le serata ad expare insieme.... le prime chat vocali, le cazzate in chat.... la prima volta in RvR.... Il Tuscarien.... Girare per la old frontier e trovarsi sui monti a vedere l'alba... si... roba da finocchi.... Le bestemmie a fare le ML.... le 11h per la ML3 (mi pare) e quella finita alle 5 del mattino ML7 in face alla sferetta di fuoco di merda.... DF e Legione... Il Drago...

Andare a ballare, tornare alle 4 del mattino e loggarsi tutti insieme per fare rvr e trovare ancora 3-400 persone loggate.... Giocare 42h filate e addormentarsi in guardia con il troll guerriero sul costone tra WA e WH.... io ho iniziato ero già grandicello ma... è un gioco che ludicamente parlando ha segnato un epoca, sfortunatamente irripetibile per molti fattori non solo dipendenti dal gioco in se....

Quoto Wolfo, Daoc fu il "primo" assieme ad Everquest, ma credo che l'80% del gioco lo facevamo "noi" che siamo nati con Vortigern.
La community italiana di quel periodo era allucinante, guerra in gioco poi sui forum poi di nuovo in gioco ecc, teamspeak, icq, messenger :oldmetal: , zero tutorial, zero aiuti, niente : dovevi sudarti tutto e sopratutto dovevi quasi per forza gruppare.

secondo me è più un discorso di cambio di generazione e come sono costruiti i giochi che ti prendono per mano per qualsiasi cosa.

Lavoro costantemente con (per) gli zoomer e per quanto mi riguarda sono una piaga del tutto e subito e del pretendo. Non hanno cazzi di sbattersi.

Non capisco perché ora gli mmorpg ti devono fare expare praticamente più velocemente da solo che in gruppo.

Daoc era estremamente punitivo, ma insomma, ci può essere una via di mezzo

Anche le meccaniche di movimento che ci sono ora negli mmorpg (credo daoc sia praticamente l'unico con stick e face) non sono proprio ideali, anche se la gente pensa i controlli di daoc siano astrusi e lenti, è il miglior modo di giocare un mmorpg, non questi giochi con la camera lontana 400km dove si vedono solo dei numeri

L'unica speranza è qualche arabo che gli prende il matto di fare daoc2...cazzo se un arabo ha preso l'SNK e nell'ultimo picchiaduro super di nicchia che sta uscendo mettono cr7 come pg giocabile c'è speranza pure per daoc2:sneer:

Season 3 Announcement**

The time has come that we announce the close of the incredible 2nd Season of Eden Dark Age of Camelot. Season 2 will end on January 2, 2025 . This will allow everyone to enjoy a final season 2 month of Dark Age of Camelot over the holidays.

Season 3 beta will begin January 5, 2025 . We have extremely exciting news to announce with Season 3 that we will do over the course of smaller announcements between now and the start of beta.

What does a new season mean?

Season resets allow for players to experience the rush and excitement of fresh new server, while carrying over meaningful progression. With a realm skill point cap that increases every week, players are able to start off on an even footing.

What carries over? All S1 characters and characters that have reached level 50 or at least realm rank 2L4 by the end of the season will have the following carry over:

Player stats/achievements/titles

What does a new season mean?

Once a character is carried over between seasons, it will be saved for all seasons going forward. si return of reckoning. devo dire che lo avevo sottovalutato. già dal 16 vai in rvr e ti diverti, peccato solo che in inc ne keep si lagga parecchio dato il solito problema del client vecchio ma per il resto e' divertente.
