City of Heros Expansion

Big City of the North: Trials of the Eskimo
--------------------------------------------

Eskimos have no crime whatsoever, but for successful mmorpgs, expansions, are not bound by law to follow any well established storyline. Instead of stopping villians and ridding the city of crime in the original game, your superhero from the south will instead travel to the far north to slay numerous wild animals, performing complex blood rituals to imprison their dying spirits for all eternity into articles of clothing for your superhero's vanity.

A successful trapping of animal's spirit powers into your clothing will *greatly* enhance your hero adding a variety of permanent powers wiping out any current differentiation by archetype. Rituals for spirit trapping have always been inscribed on sacred walrus tusks. Unfortunately the combination of a small writing surface on walrus tusks and the eskimo's oral tradition, the hardy engraver required several tusks to diagram even the simplest ritual. These tusks are exceedingly rare and few sets were actually completed before old age or forced retirement banished the engraver to the promised land for being a unproductive burden on their tribe. Luckily over the course of the last 5000 years most animal spirit trapping rituals were eventually engraved. However due to seasonal migrations, trading and rampant interbreeding, the exceedingly rare walrus sets were scattered amongst many nomadic bands spread apart across millions of acres of featureless white terrain plunged into near eternal darkness. [Put those travel powers and supersenses finally to the test!]

A hero will require the entire set of tusks, in the correct order, to complete the ritual trial. [fun to trade with your superfriends! large supergroups rejoice!] Luckily this expansion is aimed at heros who have completed the mandatory 50 grueling security levels and are looking to prepare themselves for the upcoming City of Villians PvP expansion where super clothing with a spirit of their own are absolutely required for any chance whatsoever against the next expansion's new classes.

Spirit enhanced clothing must be earned however before the particular spirit will do your bidding. You must slaying inordinate numbers of the particular spirit's rival animal type thus binding the clothing to your hero over weeks of this mind numbing bloody rite of passage. It goes without saying each article of clothing will have a different animal spirit to be effective together.

These nomadic bands have learned, over repeated exploitations from ignorant city dwellers, to hide their riches and are masters of tunneling. Every eskimo male or female looks and dresses identically, carrying all their worldly possessions well hidden from view. Each eskimo is their own boss with their own ice based area holds and devastating spirit powers. When threatened the entire settlement first dives under the tundra into miles of narrow twisting tunnels that are constantly being altered below their settlement. Speed, flight, and even super-speed will not avail you. The only chance to obtain tusks is to overwhelm the Eskimo band with sheer numbers. You will never know which, if any, band member is actually carrying a tusk, though it will always be the last band member caught. Several groups of superheros, an elite task force, will be required to handle a large band and at most one hero will ever attain a tusk. Tusks may be taken by any superhero at any time and need not be part of the elite task force. We hope this peek into the soon to be released, despite the ink being still wet, expansion will prepare your superhero for the villians to come shortly after.

City of Heros Expansion

Big City of the North: Trials of the Eskimo
Further Details
--------------------------------------------

In an attempt to increase the enjoyment of players who have left Mythic's award winning game Dark Age of Campalot, the latest expansion for City of Heroes will have the following new features.

The city will be redesigned, under a new project, codenamed "Paragon Frontiers". This will include a complete change to the geography of the city in preparation for the forthcoming PvP expansion, City of Villains. This will involve some form of fortress system, perhaps with the fortresses being called "keeps". These keeps will allow control of territory in a way that is definitely not ripped off from Planetside.

Also we will introduce a number of items that will give bonuses to either the heroes or the villains depending upon who possesses them. These bear absolutely no resemblance to the Artifacts that can be found in Dark Age of Campalot. The naming process for these is still underway, though players can look forwards to seeing the following Artif....err...items: Thor's Hammer, also known as Mjolnir(TM), The Scabbard of Excalibur (useful for broadsword scrappers) and The Cauldron of Nectanebo.

New PvE areas in this expansion will include Oranbega Falls, Pennine Park, Spraggon Town and Tir Na Boomtown.

We look forward to these and further developments planned for Trials of the Eskimo, the next expansion for Camelot of Heroes.
