06 Oct 2006 - Nintendo's Wii leads the way, according to Japanese game developers.

In a survey of dozens of Japanese game directors, programmers and designers, Famitsu has collated some statistics that paint a very pretty picture for Nintendo - at least as far as its Wii is concerned.

63% of people have 'extremely high expectations' for Wii, while 48% think the same about Sony's PlayStation 3, and a meagre 13% have identical thoughts for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

At the top of the list of most anticipated Wii games sits The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, followed by Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

The survey also focused on the unique attributes of each system, and each gained top marks for its most promoted feature. The Wii-mote is what those surveyed are most favouring out of Nintendo's offerings, while PlayStation 3's visual power leads its list, with Microsoft's pioneering Xbox Live service the most outstanding feature of the American console.

Of course, the most important factor for the platform holders is selling systems, and Wii sits as the console expected to sell the most, according to 60% of respondents. Further, 63% of people would prefer to develop for Wii, over PlayStation 3, at 32%, and Xbox 360, at 5%.

Finally, 49% of people most want to own Nintendo's new generation console, followed by 42% for PlayStation 3, and a gloomy 9% for Xbox 360.
