ITS FAQ TIME!!!!!
JK but there are several questions that DT always seem to have and i would like to try and consolidate them into one place. Instead of babbling Ill just get going but keep in mind that i will update the post with any good ideas that you follow up with.
Q: I am interested in rolling a DT. What should i expect?
A: Its the embodiment of a hybrid class. With Funcom's frenzy stance you can lay out some serious DPS when needed. With heavy armor and a substantial HP pool you can also maintank making you one of the most versatile classes in the game. At level 25 you will get a passive lifetap. this ability will define you and at level 80 and with feats you can lifetap for about 12% of the dmage that you do at all times.
In PVP the key is to stay alive and KILL KILL KILL. The longer you stay alive, the more powerful you become as the depravity procs.
Q: What is sadism?
A: Sadism is a passive buff that procs as your group mates take damage. It stacks up to 10 times. Initially it adds 1% lfietap and DPS but at later levels it starts puling an AOE unholy damage. If you can stay in the scrum long enough to get the 10% boost and AOE damge it is PURE PWNAGE.
There are feats that cause depravity to proc more often and on hits to your avatar and Covenant of Vengeance procs.
Q: What feats should I choose first?
A: Your first ten points should go into the desecration tree. The increased lifetap and stamina tap is literally a must have for every DT. If you dont have these feats you will not play to your fullest. After that its completely up to you. if youre intending to maintank a lot then going into the soldier tree down to Goad Mob, the aoe taunt, is a must. Soul Barrier is a very nice tanking feat as it makes your mana pool a secondary HP reserve. The AOE fear which is in the 8th tier of the desecration tree is one of the most powerful PVP abilities.
Personally, I am a fan of the depravity tree. The desecration tree has too many feats that are situational and dont stack. You can only have one covenant up at a time and as such points are being wasted when you dont have a Covenant you have boosted up. The depravity tree is the gift that keeps giving. Highlights are the PVP stalwart snare as well as two aoe stuns and raw DPS increases. These come in the form of a cooldown reduction and percent increases to combo damage. Unholy Strength which is a tier 7 desecration talent increases combo damage by 20%. The tier 8 pet spell makes Feast IV very worthwhile.
Q: Where are the DT scroll vendors?
1-19: Your trainer in the Thirsty Dog Inn.
20-39: Old Tarantia, in a building near the bank. When you zone in go up the ramp and keep going until you see a bridge on your left, take a right and up at the bend right before the large building on your left, the bank, is a smaller building with your scroll vendor inside.
40-59: Tarantia Noble District, at the bridge in OT mentioned before take a left over the bridge and zone into the Noble District. Once in go up the ramp and take your first left. In fron fof you, you will see a forum go caddycorner to its left and continue forward until you see a statue with scaffolding . To your left is an archway. Take it and go down the stairs. Your vendor is at the base of the stairs.
60-80: OT again. near the Temple of Mitra and Fabio. If you need better directions than that by this point then you have issues. This same NPC is in Os Harkeu to your left as you zone in before you get to the Pict gate. He is currently not stocked but i expect that to change.
Q: What equipment can a DT use:
A: From the beginning you can use 1HB, 1HE and all armors except cloth and full plate. You will be able to use a crossbow at level 50. You can get a quiver in the WildLands.
