Do you remember what everyday life in the early days of DAoC looked like? You log in and first consider whether it's worth taking a look over the next hill to see if there's a good spot for some XP. You start running and initially see nothing, continuing over the next hill and then another. Be careful not to get lost, because death lurks everywhere. Suddenly, you see another player who is 2 levels above you. You greet each other, and you ask where he has been gathering his last XP. He says, "Come with me, I'll help you." So you continue running, and you ask if there's a stone to bind somewhere. You take a little detour, and eventually you arrive at a huge plain, green grass and enemies everywhere. As you fight enemies together for some time, you get into a conversation and eventually develop a good friendship.
Compare this to todays standards.
