Da quanto si apprende, l'operazione ha avuto successo grazie alla collaborazione di Sabu, leader di Lulzsec, che dalle ricostruzioni avrebbe "collaborato segretamente con il governo per mesi", dopo essere stato a sua volta individuato e messo sotto arresto, anche questo segretamente.
