Microsoft and British Sky Broadcasting have signed a deal that will allow users to watch the Satellite TV company's output via their Xbox 360.

Sky Player will be launched on Xbox 360 in the UK and Ireland in the autumn and will feature live and on-demand channels.

The actual list of available channels will be released at a later date though one expects that Premiership football and blockbuster movies will feature.

Xbox 360 owners will be offered a variety of different channel packages all accessed via their console. Meanwhile, existing Sky satellite subscribers will be able to make use of the service as a perk on top of their regular subscription - though not confirmed it would make sense if this was free for current Sky customers.

This looks like a huge win for Microsoft. It will be interesting to see the precise details once we get our hands on the full press release. Expect more on this tomorrow.

This could be viewed as a step backwards though for those who yearn for a more open media distribution system. Will Sky Player on Xbox 360 be easier to use than torrenting TV shows and streaming them to your Xbox? We would hope so, but all too often - just as we see with DRM - legitimate customers tend to have a worse user experience than those stealing content. We await the official announcement with interest.

si esiste mysky , solo che ci devono essere due cavi che partono dalla parabola e mi dovevano spaccar tutto per far passare il secondo cavo... è per quello che non l'ho messo...

Cambia installatore

C'e' anche modo di far "sdoppiare" il segnale a valle, invece che a monte.
Devono mettere un secondo illuminatore sulla parabola (quello si) e poi uno scatolino dove hai la TV, prima dell'ingresso nel decoder MySky.

Mi pare mi sia costato tipo un 70 euro, o giu' di li', e l'installatore Sky che e' venuto a metterlo ha detto che e' abbastanza comune, visto che in diverse case (soprattutto condomini) un po' piu' vecchiotte, lo spazio nelle canaline per far passare due cavi c'e' raramente.

Come dice wayne c'è un modo per installare mysky anche senza mettere il secondo cavo. Io l'ho fatto.. in compenso mi han messo una seconda parabola per il multivision in camera
