October 18, 2007 - Back in August, Konami announced their Pro Evolution Soccer franchise would be hitting the Wii. It was also mentioned that the control system would be completely reworked to incorporate the Wii's motion sensetivity. More recently, the game's producer, Akiyoshi "Greyhound" Chosogabe, held an interview with CVG in which there was much talk about the new, and perhaps somewhat bold, control scheme.

The Wii is often touted as a casual gamer's machine, though according to Greyhound, this is not the case. He believes that the Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is directed more the the hardcore audience than any of the other version. He said of this in the interview, "In the beginning I wondered if we would have to create a casual game, because the Wii is a more of a casual player's machine. But I thought it would be boring if we create it as a more casual game. Therefore in the beginning I abandoned any plans to make this a more casual version and started to look for a brand new direction."

With the alternate versions of this title on other consoles using the same tried and true control mechanics that the series has been using for some time now, questions arose over the possibility of Classic Controller support for the Wii version. Greyhound soon laid these thoughts to rest by announcing that, while this version is based on the PS2 version, he is focusing on a completely new game system and therefore has no plans to use the classic controller.

Some have also questioned the ability of attatching the Wii controller to the foot to play. This idea has already been tested by Greyhound's team and it apparently just doesn't work. He explained, "In the beginning we had the idea of putting the Nunchuck controller on your boot and actually one of the team put it on his foot. But it wasn't quite as interesting as we expected. The guy who put the controller on his foot looked very awkward and it did not look like playing football at all. It looked like he had something wrong with his foot, so it was not a very successful experiment."

Cioe io sono un felice possesore di wii, gioco ai miei biei giochi del wii e mi ci diverto, e mi piacerebbe giocare a PES senza dover stare a fare vanti indietro con ps3 e vari, perche' devono fare sta minchiatA? mica tutti i possessori di wii hanno una x360 o una ps3 che quindi possono scegliere, hanno un pool di 10 milioni di wii, ma dio bono fai un gioco del calcio solo per vendere, e non per fare vedere che sei innovativo....
