    Default Update 1.62 (7/16)

    DIFFICULTY MODE CONSOLIDATION - FAQ
With the Ant-Man patch, difficulty modes have been removed and consolidated!

The goal of this consolidation is to make grouping simplified, but it has several side benefits and lays the groundwork for further changes and new features for the future.

    Difficulty Modes

There is no longer a “Normal”, “Heroic” and “Superheroic” difficulty for story mode.

All references to difficulty modes in the Story have been removed throughout the game. There is now simply "Story Mode"

    Grouping

Grouping is now simplified. You do not have to switch difficulties at any time in order to join another player’s group, you simply join them.

    Story Mode Experience and Missions

Experience rewards for story mode have been greatly increased.

Players can level from 1 to 60 in story mode alone, at a brisk pace, if they wish.

Several new optional story missions have been added in various chapters, with experience awards, to aid in leveling. More may be added in the future, as needed.

Those new missions will be reflected in your mission log, if you wish to complete them for fun, but there are no new “must have” rewards.

    Achievements

Several achievements related to difficulty modes have been simplified or moved in the "Retired" section within the Feats achievement category. They will remain on a player’s record for posterity, but no longer contribute to achievement point totals. This applies to the Heroic and Superheroic versions of the "Defeat the Brotherhood" achievements.

Achievements which required an objective to be completed in a specific difficulty mode have been adjusted to simply require that task to be completed in "story mode" and not reference a difficulty. This affects nine achievements in total. If you've previously completed those achievement, you will of course keep your credit.

The set of achievements requiring a defeat of Doctor Doom in Superheroic mode now simply require the defeat occur in story mode. (Since Doom is towards the end of the revised story, it's roughly the same difficulty). These are the "... vs. Doctor Doom" achievements. If you've completed them already, you'll keep your credit.

    Treasure Rooms

Whenever a story region spawns, it usually randomly creates two of the three possible treasure rooms in the area. For achievement hunters, it will no longer be possible to simply change difficulty modes to try and respawn treasure rooms. It will require either a relog or joining a different party.

However, we are going to increase the spawn rate of Treasure Rooms to the maximum possible per region (resulting in ~50% more treasure rooms in any given story region), which will be exciting.

Consider this if you want to complete certain achievements in an easier fashion before this change happens.

    Mission Awards

Story-mode mission awards have been consolidated whenever appropriate, essentially resulting in “triple” rewards for many missions.

If a mission awards health, spirit or power points, completing the mission will now combine the awards for Normal, Heroic and Superheroic into one award.

A player who completed any of these missions, on any difficulty, prior to the patch will receive full credit for completing all three of them.

If you have not completed any difficulty of these prior to the difficulty consolidation patch, they can simply complete it afterwards and receive the full “triple” credit.

If you've already completed ANY difficulty of these missions in the past, you don't need to do anything - everything will be handled automatically.

    Story Mode Artifacts

Three artifacts awarded for quests are no consolidated to award only the Superheroic version, with a name change and lowered level requirement. Details:

Maht's Arrowhead (Normal) and (Heroic) are no longer available. Maht's Arrowhead (Superheroic) version will now be awarded as the quest reward, with a reduced level requirement of 19 and the item name officially changed to Maht's Bladed Arrowhead. Image: http://i.imgur.com/n8kkhM2.jpg

S.H.I.E.L.D. Motion Tracker (Normal) and (Heroic) are no longer available. S.H.I.E.L.D. Motion Tracker (Superheroic) version will now be awarded as the quest reward, with a reduced level requirement of 19 and the item name officially changed to S.H.I.E.L.D. Motion Analyzer. Yukio's Charm (Normal) and (Heroic) are no longer available. Yukio's Charm (Superheroic) version will now be awarded as the quest reward, with a reduced level requirement of 15 and the item name officially changed to Yukio's Lucky Charm. Image: http://imgur.com/Q1T92NF

If you are interested in collecting specific versions of these 3 artifacts, be sure to complete the appropriate difficulty missions before July 16th if you haven't already. The normal and heroic versions of these artifacts won't be available once the Ant-Man patch goes live and you will not receive the revised Superheroic version once the change is made if you've already completed the missions on normal or heroic previously.

    What To Do Now

If you want to acquire the Normal or Superheroic versions of the 3 artifacts listed above, you should complete the appropriate missions now.

If you are an achievement hunter and want to quickly reset treasure rooms by changing difficulty modes, you may want to do that in the next week.

If you want to have some achievements in the "Retired" category of X-traordinary Feats, you may want to complete the Heroic and Superheroic versions of the "Defeat the Brotherhood" achievements.

Otherwise, you don't have much to do.

    Future Plans

The consolidation of difficulty modes is a fine step to making grouping easier and has lots of benefits for new players, but it also lays the groundwork for additional features for the future.

We are planning a "Mentor Mode" which will allow you to auto-magically scale yourself down and group with lower level friends in story zones (and possibly other zones) while still gaining gear for your level. This is planned for later in the year.

We would like to eventually create a level 60 Cosmic Story "terminal", with appropriate rewards, achievements, etc.

We are working on designs for self-selected scaling difficulty and other features that will be used with the upcoming "Leaderboard" tech.

Let me know if anything here is unclear so I can clean it up or add more info.

The beta version of this Difficult Mode Consolidation work will be on test center tomorrow night and will launch with the Ant-Man patch.

    ANT-MAN
Ant-Man has arrived in Marvel Heroes 2015!

    Here are some highlights:

    GET SMALL

Just like the new Ant-Man feature film and comics, Marvel Heroes 2015's Ant-Man has a number of powers that allow him to rapidly shrink in size. From tiny uppercuts that knock opponents up to amazingly fast punches and kicks, Ant-Man hits far harder than his tiny size. He also changes dynamically when using his powers, so you get the feel of Ant-Man's rapid size-changing capabilities.

    GET STRONG

We spent a long time trying to figure out what to do with Ant-Man's synergies. As a commander of ants we toyed around with stats to do with summoning, but we ultimately came up with an entirely new level 50 synergy that we hope you'll love: +1 Strength. That's right, if you level up Ant-Man to 50 you get +1 Strength for all your heroes if you take his synergy. Tap into the hidden strength of the ant!

    GET LEGIONS OF FOLLOWERS

Ant-Man wouldn't be worthy of the name if he didn't have the ability to command his insect legions. To this end players can summon up to 10,000 ants just by fighting, and then "spend" the ants on powers such as "Fistful of Ants," which creates a giant fist of ants and smashes your opponents. One by one they may not be powerful, but under your command these insects really ruin the bad guys' day.

    CONSOLIDATED DIFFICULTY MODES
The Story section of the game has had difficulty modes consolidated such that players will level from 1 through 60 by completing the story.

To make grouping easier, there is no longer the concept of Normal/Heroic/Superheroic difficulties during Story Mode.

    MINOR CHANGES AND BUG FIXES
A few client performance improvements are in this patch. Depending on your GPU and CPU, you may notice a difference (especially on mid-spec machines).

Fixed an issue preventing some movement powers (such as Juggernaut's Stride) from passing through certain destructible environmental objects. Interactable objects that can be picked up will still prevent powers that do not destroy environmental objects (such as Captain America's On Your Left) from passing through them.

Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause Doctor Doom's Primary Resource texture not to appear after changing Specialization Powers.

Fixed an issue that sometimes caused Specializations to turn off when transitioning between combat areas.

Removed tooltip for +50% effects on next rank for Silver Surfer's Power Unconquered since it doesn't scale for next rank.

Increased Wolverine Furious Assault Knock Up duration slightly to allow it time to actually play most of the time.

Comparison Tooltips for Items higher than your hero’s level are now displayed again.

Two more STASH tabs are available for purchase.

Team-Up Heroes no longer display an empty Spirit Bar in their overhead info.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Rooftop Checkpoint Waypoint has been renamed to "Crumbling Brownstones" to help clear up travel confusion.

Fixed a bug that would cause Achievement Unlocked chat notifications to only appear while the Achievements window is open.

Fixed a bug with the Achievements Panel which would sometimes cause progress updates not to appear until the next time you logged in.

All in Doom's Time Achievement should now function correctly. He was using some mystic power to force failure upon us, but we sorted him out.

Iceman's "Chill Out" achievement should no longer count destructible objects.

Iron Man's "You Know... For Kids!" achievement should no longer count destructible objects.

Fixed an issue which would prevent clicking on some elements in the Cinematics Panel on the Login screen after viewing a Fullscreen Movie.

Windows Operating Systems: While running the game in a window, pressing the maximize window button should expand the window to the full extent of the desktop workspace.

Fixed a bug where audio wasn't muted when the game window loses focus.

Added checkbox in audio settings which lets player choose whether losing input focus causes game audio to mute or not.

Fixed an issue that caused defeated enemies to vanish instantly when "Max Defeated Enemies" is at its minimum setting.

    THE TUNING CORNER
Loki and Emma Frost uniques have been buffed to fit current item budgets and design.

Jean Grey tuning changes are in progress, coming next week.

Expect another round of tuning upgrades in August as we prepare for the release of Cosmic Ultron Mode and Red-difficulty AXIS Raid.

    Rogue

Rogue's Electromagnetic Flux has been modified to match the changes to Silver Surfer's power as follows:

There is a 5s window after channeling stops in which Rogue may resume channeling at full strength
Power gains 20% increased damage to enemies affected by her Attrition powers (stacks up to 40%)
    Spirit cost reduced by 50%
Base damage adjusted to account for above changes
Rogue's Accursed Beam has been modified so that the health cost is no longer modified by her own stats. The power's damage and health cost have been increased

    ACHIEVEMENT HINTS
The policy is the secret achievements are not mentioned, confirmed or provided hints of any kind. However, we do have some small hints for a few of the secret achievements.

    First Achievement Hint:

Stay awhile and listen. The wind blowing through the sand and leaves carries tales of mysteries and bounties that would stir any pirate’s curiosity.

    Second Achievement Hint:

    Smith, Goldblum & Pullman.

    Third Achievement Hint:

Maple Syrup, Back Bacon & Poutine.

    KNOWN ISSUES
Ant-Man’s Think Small power tooltip is slightly inaccurate, and does not specify that the Vulnerability applied by this power only affects the damage of your Ants powers (ant swarms or powers that spend Ant Pool resource such as Red Hots). This tooltip will be clarified in an upcoming patch.

Despite ongoing diplomatic negotiations, Dr. Doom has declined to relinquish Dr. Strange’s Classic Costume icon for his own classic costume, as he claims he finds our frustrations “amusing”. We will insist Latverian representatives correct this error in an upcoming patch.
